Christmas JOY!

THE SOUNDING JOY is the stamp set used here.  It is found on page 23 of the HOLIDAY MINI CATALOG.  The colors used are POOL PARTY and BLACK.  What a neat Christmas Card!!  Thanks to Julie for providing this sample.

I love the DECORATIVE LABEL PUNCH (p. 209) peeking out from the top and bottom of the saying.  Another great technique is using an embossing folder for just HALF of the card.  PETALS-A-PLENTY was used just on the left half. 

Happy Birthday to my awesome father-in-law today!  He is 84!  Love that guy so much!

The Sounding Joy club project

Look what we made at stamp club this month.

We used NOT QUITE NAVY and NIGHT OF NAVY as the main colors of the card.  I took photos of both ideas and mixed them up a bit.  The stamp set is THE SOUNDING JOY (p. 23 of the Holiday Mini).  It comes with 4 stamps in the set.  We used a little bit of BRUSHED SILVER CARDSTOCK and the SCALLOP TRIM BORDER PUNCH to add the accent piece.  SILVER EMBOSSING POWDER was used for the words.

The inside of the card matches the SCALLOP TRIM BORDER PUNCH.

Extreme Elements

This was another big hit at stamp club this month.  I have posted before with BLACK & WHITE and I will post again....I love the B&W style!

We used the stamp set called EXTREME ELEMENTS.  It contains a variety of geometric shapes and such.  When you stamp this card, don't always re-ink in the black.  I like to have varying shades of grey and black.

We used the BLACK EMBOSSING POWDER for the central piece (football player, guitarist, snowboarder).

The 1/4" BLACK GROSGRAIN RIBBON is wrapped around the front of the card.  Then we used TEENY TINY WISHES for the Happy Birthday sentiment.  Punch this out with the WORD WINDOW punch and also the MODERN LABEL punch.  Love these two punches together.

Hello Doily is a HIT!

We did this project at STAMP CLUB and it really was a hit.  I love watching a big image while it is heat embossed....fun to see the powder melt into the beautiful sheen.

 
The HUGE stamp is called HELLO DOILY! (What a clever name).  We stamped with the VERSAMARK INK PAD on MARINA MIST CARDSTOCK.  Then dumped WHITE EMBOSSING POWDER over everything.  BIG TIP:  always use the EMBOSSING BUDDY before you start an embossing project.  It removes all the static and oils from the paper.

To make the punch, we used the TAG PUNCH and also the ITTY BITTY PUNCH PACK for those sweet little flowers.  Notice the TINY pearls inside each flower.  LOVE IT!

Can you just say YUM when you look at this?  I see autumn colors and a great card all together!!

Stamp set is called MY FRIEND.  It is available in the wood or the clear.  The big punch has been a hit.  That is called LACE RIBBON BORDER PUNCH.

Can you see the white embossing?  The other colors are LUCKY LIMEADE, CALYPSO CORAL and CHOCOLATE CHIP.

Hello With A Punch...

Ready for another great card from the swap I participated in?  This one was made by Carolyn Susi.  Thanks!

 

It features the colors POOL PARTY and EARLY EXPRESSO.  The set is MY FRIEND.  Not sure if you can tell from the photo, but the stamp "hello" is embossed.  It does look shiny in person.  :)

Love the LACE BORDER PUNCH that is used on the FIRST EDITION PAPER.  What a fun look!  And don't forget to see all the detail below with that tiny clear button and a little BAKER'S TWINE.

We have lots of the polka-dot ribbon now...............whoohoo!

Summer Splash

Are you ready for the summer heat?  I am...but we have not had very much of it (yet).  My kids were just talking about tubing down the river.  I will do that...but it has to be hot!

 
I received this sample in a card swap from Carol Payne.  Thanks Carol! 

The surfboards are embossed so they have a shiny look to them.  To get that blue sky look...you can use a dauber and an ink pad to dab the blue onto the white cardstock.  The UNIBALL WHITE GEL PEN is used to draw in the birds and the little waves.

She mounted the surfboard piece onto MELON MAMBO cardstock and then again onto PUMPKIN PIE cardstock.  The big card piece is made from DAFFODIL DELIGHT.  The SQUARE LATTICE EMBOSSING FOLDER is used to get all that texture on the DADDODIL piece.  To get the pattern to show up more, you can use a dauber to highlight all the little bumps on the SQUARE LATTICE.

 

The stamp set is available in WOOD or CLEAR.  There are 7 pieces in the set.

Simply Elegant Embossing

This is one of my all-time favorite cards that I made.  I did this one at least 5 years ago and just came across it.  It is GOLD EMBOSSING POWDER on the BRUSHED GOLD CARDSTOCK.  
These stamps are no longer available...but this would be very easy to duplicate with any stamps!  Just grab a outline image for the flower part.  And grab a sentiment to stamp in black ink.

EMBOSSING TIP:  Use the EMBOSSING BUDDY to rub over the cardstock that you are going to use for embossing.  It takes off the static so that when you dump on the powder you don't get all those little flecks.  I love using the VERSAMARK INK PAD when I want to do any embossing.

This card uses VERY VANILLA, BASIC BLACK and the BRUSHED GOLD CARDSTOCK.

There is a lot going on with the card.  The EGGPLANT ENVY outside is a cut-out from the TOP NOTE DIE.  It also has polka dots on it from the POLKA DOT EMBOSSING FOLDER.  The OLD OLIVE piece has the FLOWER GARDEN EMBOSSING FOLDER on it.  Next is the white piece...which is cut from the TWO TAGS DIE and the BIG SHOT.  The BUTTERFLY is a stamp from the STRENGTH & HOPE set.  It is embossed with the MELON MAMBO EMBOSSING POWDER.

Happy May Day! plus a new embossing folder

Happy May Day!  Do you have a May Day tradition?  I can't say that we have a tradition...but I do like the thought of sunny days and the beautiful weather of May (well I am hoping that this is a beautiful month)!

Here is a look at a new product available in the new SUMMER MINI CATALOG.  This catalog runs May 1 - August 31. 

 
The big flower on the right side of the card is done with the new embossing folder called FLOWER GARDEN.  I took the CHAMPAGNE SHIMMER PAINT and a SPONGE DAUBER and smudged it all over the WHISPER WHITE CARDSTOCK that I started with.

The black strip of paper is from the NEWSPRINT DESIGNER PAPER PACKAGE.  The saying is from the BOLD BLOSSOM stamp set.  I used GOLD EMBOSSING POWDER for that saying.  The punch used is the DECORATIVE LABEL PUNCH.  I punched it one time on the WHITE layer for the saying.  I also punched a BASIC BLACK piece out and a BRUSHED GOLD piece out.  See how I have the 3 punched layers on top of one another?

 
 
I experimented with tearing the black piece of designer paper...I like it both ways!  To get the 3 gold brads lined up in a row I used the MAT PACK GUIDE.  That is a great way to get those brads where you want them.  :)
